Summary

This program is intended for preceptors and other individuals involved in teaching pharmacy learners. During this program we will define critical thinking and clinical reasoning and describe the role of experiential education in the development of a learner’s critical thinking and clinical reasoning​. We will identify challenges that preceptors and learners encounter related to the teaching and learning of clinical reasoning​. Additionally, we will provide preceptors with strategies for teaching clinical reasoning and help them develop a plan to maximize learner development of clinical reasoning during the limited time that they have with their learner.

This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 1.0 live general hours to meet pharmacist renewal requirements outlined in Rule 64B16-26.103.

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define critical thinking and clinical reasoning
  2. Describe the role of experiential education in the development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning
  3. Identify preceptor and learner challenges related to the teaching and learning of clinical reasoning
  4. Develop a plan to maximize development of clinical reasoning with limited time
  5. List strategies for teaching clinical reasoning in the experiential environment

Requirements for Successful Course Completion

In order to earn credit for this course, participants must attend the live presentation. Additionally, within 15 days of attending the webinar, participants must complete a course evaluation form.
