Summary

This program will provide the pharmacist with a review of managing anticoagulation therapy during procedures. Learners will have the opportunity to apply the content learned to patient cases.

This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 1.0 live general hours to meet pharmacist renewal requirements outlined in Rule 64B16-26.103.


Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical conundrum when antithrombotic therapy interruption needs to be considered in preparation for a procedure.
  2. Identify the risk of bleeding and the risk of thromboembolism in the periprocedural setting for a patient taking anticoagulation therapy.
  3. Outline an individualized plan for the management of a patient’s anticoagulation around the time of a procedure.
