Acute Pain Management

This CPE program will introduce the participant to the assessment and management of acute pain. This program will be given in two parts. Part 1 will focus on acute non-surgical pain while Part 2 will focus on acute surgical pain and patient controlled analgesia. This program will provide the consultant pharmacist with knowledge and skill in the selection of drug therapy and recommend appropriate efficacy and safety monitoring for both opioid and non-opioid therapies used in the management of both acute non-surgical and surgical pain.

Common Chronic Care Issues

The goal of this program is to review these conditions and their treatments so as to better understand how they fit into the overall risk picture for metabolic syndrome. Learners will successfully view recorded lecture content available online via an online Learning Management System, complete required readings, and assessment activities for a total of 6.0 hours of CPE.

Introduction to Motivational Interviewing

The purpose of this course is to provide the pharmacist with an overview of motivational interviewing terms and techniques as a communication and counseling approach designed to help patients find their own motivation to make a positive change in their behavior.

Practical Management of Anticoagulation

The content of this program will provide the pharmacist with a review of thromboembolic risk factors and coagulation disorders. Utilizing current guidelines and recommendations, this program will provide the learner with the tools necessary to provide routine management of anticoagulant therapy in outpatient settings. Key concepts will be reinforced though case applications.

Practical Management of Diabetes

Pharmacists have an important role in providing diabetes management. The content of this program will provide the pharmacist with a review of the pathophysiology of diabetes, oral an injectable diabetes medications and therapeutic plan development.

The Management of Asthma

During this educational activity, the learner will learn to recognize, treat, and control this chronic condition using patient-centered care.  The learner will have an overview of asthma and will be familiar with patient assessment, the appropriate treatments and correct use of inhalers and devices used in asthma.

Anticoagulation Therapy Management for Pharmacists Certificate Program

This course is designed as a resource to help prepare the pharmacist for the responsibility of monitoring and managing anticoagulation therapy patients and clinics. It is also designed to serve as a starting point to help the pharmacist prepare for the Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider (CACP) exam. This program is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for consultant pharmacist recertification credit.

Consultant Pharmacist Recertification Program

This self-paced, fully online program program is intended for licensed consultant pharmacists seeking continuing education for licensure renewal. This course will provide a review of regulatory requirements and clinical knowledge necessary to practice as a consultant pharmacist in the state of Florida.

Management and Advancements for Alzheimer’s Disease

This Alzheimer’s disease continuing education course covers pharmacologic and medical therapies, the role of pharmacists in caring for patients with Alzheimer’s, strategies for addressing the effects of the disease, and ways to support families and caregivers.
