Summary
In this continuing education program, we will identify legal barriers for transgender patients to access and obtain appropriate and necessary healthcare resources. Apply proper pronoun use, gain an understanding of legal name change and “dead naming” of a transgender patient.
Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Relate the need for legal authenticity for transgender individuals to optimal patient care
- Explain the current healthcare gaps for transgender patients in obtaining and accessing optimal care
